So you want to be a fitness blogger?
If…
- you have the knowledge to share,
- or you are on your own special health and fitness journey
…then you should be thinking about starting your own blog.
Let’s look a little more at the how and why.
Get Your Own Hosting
If you want to start a business from your blog, or monetize it and sell your own product or affiliate stuff you are much better off getting your own hosting.
Sure you can head over to blogspot or wordpress and set up your own free blog, but the reality is you don’t have control over the content you create. You put hours of time into your blog, and suddenly one day it is gone. You can get rid of all the risk by setting up your own blog, on your own domain, on your own hosting.
If you want to start a blog and earn a passive income off it, you need to get off the free platforms.
Bluehost Is The Bomb
I highly recommend that you get a hosting plan, which costs a small amount per month (between 4-6 dollars) and will mean that you own the space to your blog. It’s like you are renting an apartment. You rent and own that space on the internet for as long as you pay for it. The cost is really low and means you can set up a real business and create a great passive income that is safe and manageable. I use Bluehost, and their customer support is great. The platform is easy to use and very easy to set up.
How To Set Up Your Own WordPress Blog
First click the link above and sign up for a plan.
Choose a domain name, make it brandable!
Sign up for the length of plan you want, the longer you sign up for the cheaper you get the plan, however for new blogs signing up for the 12 month will be cheaper initially. You can always renew for a longer time later!
Pick a password. Make it good!
You will then be taken to your cpanel. It looks a little intimidating to start but don’t worry. Scroll down until you find the little wordpress icon and click it.
Head down to the Blogs section and click the wordpress icon again!
Scroll down and click Install a brand new version.
Find your domain, if it’s a brand new setup it will be the first one there.
After you click install, this will come up. Click the directory exists button. We can overwrite it without a problem.
Uncheck all the plugins (you don’t need them) and click complete.
There you have it, a new wordpress blog! Click the login URL and use your new name and password to login.
Start Blogging!
Now you have your new wordpress blog installed, congrats! You should head to the posts and pages area and delete the sample ones. Click Add New under Posts to write your first post.
